I have collected all of Hornung's Raffles books. This is a valued part of my rebuilding my personal mystery library with some of my favorite writers.
Good read..enjoy the 'older stories'.
Totally Entertaining.
I enjoyed reading about the adventures of Raffles and
Meanders and how Raffles got out of his problem with his enemy.
Raffles is great!
E.W. Hornung ventured into the novel form with his gentleman thief A.J. Raffles in this book, and while it's not bad reading, its not up to the short stories he wrote. Still and all, a follower of the series would find it interesting in some ways, and a precursor of the Barry Perowne era later on.
Raffles and Bunny battling a loan shark. I guess the more that changes, the more things stay the same. This could take place today.
With the exception of the cricket descriptions, which I can't follow at all, this was easy to read. This is one novel, not a collection. Full of action.
All 4 books are really good, all of good quality. I enjoyed this book as much as the others, i am only sorry the adventure has come to an end.
